Coil/wick Question

It seems like the only rta coil builds that don't give me dry hits are standard spaced coils. Every time I try to do the coils that touch I get dry hits. Why is this? And why do people press the coil together in the first place? faster ramp up time? Frustrating!!!!

Old Coils = Bad Taste?

Does old coils have any negative affects?

I typically burn off the gunk on the coils and put it through a good rinse then change my wick every few days. This was especially true when I'm using standard kanthal on the Protank.

I recently switched to a Solomon 3 using claptons. I find that there is very little gunk on the coils, I still burn off what I can before replacing the wick. I usually change the coil every week and one wick in between. On this one however, I'm 2 weeks on on the same coil and had only replace my wick once using the same liquids that I normally use on the Protank.

What I notice is the vape isn't as smooth as if I were to put in a fresh coil. I think I just answered my own question but what do you guys have to say about it?

Kangerteck Modified

Two issues I wanted to fix. The first is the battery run time using the low ohm coils. Second is when the e-liquid gets to the top of the sub ohm coil housing in the Kangertech I've noticed a lot of dry hits when heavy vaping, ( I like a higher VG juice. ) I would find myself closing the air intakes and sucking hard to get the wick saturated, ( a real pain in the ***. )
NOTE: I like an airy hit and run the air intake ports full open.
So here's what I did.
I've drilled the wick holes out to 3.5mm in the Kangertech coil housing. Then built a 1.1 ohm coil with 4 strands of 32ga. kanthal, ( twisted together first ), 5 wraps around a 3.47mm screwdriver. The coil was very springy to work with but got a bit stiffer after torching t closed to 1/4" width using adjustable tweezers. I used regular ball cotton for the wick in this experiment. The coil came in at 1.1 ohm.
Primed the wick and filled tank with a little bit of juice, just below the top of the coil housing.
All I can say is WOW. The first 10 hits taste a bit crappy but after the break in, WOW.
Taste and vapor production are great. There's a bit of crackle but no pops. Crackle I don't mind, Pops I mind. The ClouporT8 counted 75 hits and now the e-juice level is just above the wicking ports by a hair and still working great with full open air intake ports.
I will add post after I've used this set up for awhile.
Curious what other think!

Ni 200 Coils

Everything that I have read so far says that you want to use spaced coils when working with Ni200. Will the coils not work as well if you use contact coils? I am asking because I have a Goblin RTA and it has a small build deck and Im not sure if I will be able to fit spaced coils in it (also, I have never made a spaced coil lol)

Thanks for your help guys!

24g In Sub Tank Mini Rad?

Hey all, sorry if this is posted in the wrong place but I was wondering if anyone has tried a 24g coil build in the subtank mini rba deck and if it worked or not? Regardless I'm going to build a coil a little later to try and see how it works but I thought I would ask before hand on the odd case someone has tried, I've searched a bit and couldn't find anything, everyone seems to like twisted coils in these. The main reason I'm interested in doing this is because I've never vaped a successful tank with no burnt/dry hits yet so I figure the 24g ramp up time might help settle this problem, at least for me. I'm interested to see the thoughts so please reply

Do You Save Your Coil Builds?

Hey guys just recently got a Lemo2, wasn't happy with the coil that it came built with for some reason so built my first one to put in. I think it came out pretty good, I believe it came with 24g Kanthal and I did 11 wraps around 3.5mm came out to 0.9ohm. It takes a while to ramp up but seems to give a nicer vape to me than the stock one which was like 5 wraps around 2mm at 0.5 ohm.

Anyways, I tossed the original coil and now am wondering if I really had to or could have saved it. When you guys try new coil builds do you save your older builds? And being that it's really just resistance wire does a coil ever really need to be replaced or is it just for novelty/trying new builds?

Dry Hits In Atlantis V 2

im using an atlantis 2 with the .3 ohm coil and im using it on an eleaf istick 50 watt. my first coil from the pack was good. then went that burned out i put in a new coil and it keeps dry hitting. So i changed the coil. Dry hits on that one too. And on a third coil. Same liquid as i was using with the wattage at about 47-50. Why would it be dry hitting like this? also, it seems to be getting way too hot at those wattages

Why Do Sub Ohm Take So Much Voltage?

Hello vapers! first! I'm a noob at this stuff because I just buy my tank and use it with the coils it comes with and second, my english isnt that good but I can understand it perfectly fine.

Anyway, Ive been searching everywhere but I couldnt find a solid answer to my question.
Im using an Aerotank Giant right now with a 1.8 ohm coil, if I put a 1.2 ohm I would have to use less voltage because I get a burnt taste and the coil burns pretty quick, Im about to order a Sub ohm tank soon and I'll use the stock coils, the one im getting is the Kangertech SubOhm tank.
Why do subohm coils use more voltage when normal coils use less?

I mean, Ive seen people do things like 0.2 ohm coil @ 100W + If I did anything over 3.5V on my 1.2 ohm coil itd burn instantly... SubOhm takes more voltage the lower you go and normal dual coils take less voltage the lower you go!

1.9 Ohm Dual coil = 3.7-3.8V for me
0.5 ohm OOC subtank sub ohm coil = 12-30W?!

Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply to this post and your patience!

Cheers!

Edit: by the way, Im planning to use my subtank with a 50/50 PG/VG 16mg nicotine, Is that ok?

Kanger Sub Mini Tank/ Dry Hits Help

Hey guys whats up. Well I had gotten the Sub Mini tank, the first tank I got was a dud. I had nothing but issues with it since day one. Coils went bad in 1.5 days both coils, then the rba deck was giving my sigeili issues and errors.

So I sent it back, They replaced it, and I now have Version 2 as they say. This tank has 2 air slots and different Holes in the tank. I used the Stock .5 coil but was just getting wayyyy too many dry hits.. So I went to the RBA deck, been using the coil that came with it, and I have 100% organic cotton. So I been using that, but now I am getting Dry hits with this thing!!! every 4th hit Is Dry!! I have to cover the holes and pull to get teh cotton wet again, and then 4th hit shes dry again.

What is going on here? Anyone else have issues like this? I am really getting fed up with this and ready to just throw it away. What can I do about the situation or why is this happening?

Anyway To Extend A Coils Life?

I just burned through my first coil on my KangerTech Evod 2, and I started wondering if there was anyway to extend the life of a coil. Do big hits, or small hits make a considerable difference? Just wondering because ultimately it can either reduce or increase the overall cost of vaping.

Coil Builds

I'm about to venture into doing my own builds and I had a silly question. I have watched dozens of videos on how to do builds and have even done a couple builds on some of my friends attys. I have one friend who on all his dual builds he uses two coils with different wraps. For example one coil with 7 wraps and one with 5. Does anyone else build this way? I have never asked him why he does this and in all the videos I've watched I've never seen anyone else do it. Is there a specific reason? Just curious
