New Coil Or E-liquid Popping?

I just bought new 1,2 ohm replacement coils to replace the original 1.5 ohm coils in my protank 3 / i-stick 50w. I also changed to new e-juice (cherry 50/50 18mg from smoktech). Now it pops really bad when set at 3,7 volts, where it was set previously using mt baker strawberry / bannana 50/50 18mg. It even pops some at lower voltage settings down to ~ 2.8 volts, but I don't get a very strong vape at that setting. Is this because of the different juice or because of the lower ohm coil? Is this the sound of my wick getting fried or what? If so, what is the solution to stop the popping while also get a strong vape?

Popping Sound When I Vape

New to rtas and using hellvape md I use 6wraps ss 28ga wire and cotton bacon prime and the thing is my vape makes popping sound all the time....my zpide tank used to pop also but didn't sound so loud I guess cause the rta has the chamber but I was wondering is that normal thing??? I tried wick veeeery tight like I didn't care if I get dry hit just to see if the popping would stop but didn't ...
I tried to go to lower wattage but then I feel like the juice boils and makes me scared I will get flooded coil and higher wattage don't help...do u guys get popping sounds when u vape ? Is it normal? Am I doing something wrong that I can't realise???? XD

Old Coils = Bad Taste?

Does old coils have any negative affects?

I typically burn off the gunk on the coils and put it through a good rinse then change my wick every few days. This was especially true when I'm using standard kanthal on the Protank.

I recently switched to a Solomon 3 using claptons. I find that there is very little gunk on the coils, I still burn off what I can before replacing the wick. I usually change the coil every week and one wick in between. On this one however, I'm 2 weeks on on the same coil and had only replace my wick once using the same liquids that I normally use on the Protank.

What I notice is the vape isn't as smooth as if I were to put in a fresh coil. I think I just answered my own question but what do you guys have to say about it?

Why Do Sub Ohm Take So Much Voltage?

Hello vapers! first! I'm a noob at this stuff because I just buy my tank and use it with the coils it comes with and second, my english isnt that good but I can understand it perfectly fine.

Anyway, Ive been searching everywhere but I couldnt find a solid answer to my question.
Im using an Aerotank Giant right now with a 1.8 ohm coil, if I put a 1.2 ohm I would have to use less voltage because I get a burnt taste and the coil burns pretty quick, Im about to order a Sub ohm tank soon and I'll use the stock coils, the one im getting is the Kangertech SubOhm tank.
Why do subohm coils use more voltage when normal coils use less?

I mean, Ive seen people do things like 0.2 ohm coil @ 100W + If I did anything over 3.5V on my 1.2 ohm coil itd burn instantly... SubOhm takes more voltage the lower you go and normal dual coils take less voltage the lower you go!

1.9 Ohm Dual coil = 3.7-3.8V for me
0.5 ohm OOC subtank sub ohm coil = 12-30W?!

Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply to this post and your patience!

Cheers!

Edit: by the way, Im planning to use my subtank with a 50/50 PG/VG 16mg nicotine, Is that ok?

Kangerteck Modified

Two issues I wanted to fix. The first is the battery run time using the low ohm coils. Second is when the e-liquid gets to the top of the sub ohm coil housing in the Kangertech I've noticed a lot of dry hits when heavy vaping, ( I like a higher VG juice. ) I would find myself closing the air intakes and sucking hard to get the wick saturated, ( a real pain in the ***. )
NOTE: I like an airy hit and run the air intake ports full open.
So here's what I did.
I've drilled the wick holes out to 3.5mm in the Kangertech coil housing. Then built a 1.1 ohm coil with 4 strands of 32ga. kanthal, ( twisted together first ), 5 wraps around a 3.47mm screwdriver. The coil was very springy to work with but got a bit stiffer after torching t closed to 1/4" width using adjustable tweezers. I used regular ball cotton for the wick in this experiment. The coil came in at 1.1 ohm.
Primed the wick and filled tank with a little bit of juice, just below the top of the coil housing.
All I can say is WOW. The first 10 hits taste a bit crappy but after the break in, WOW.
Taste and vapor production are great. There's a bit of crackle but no pops. Crackle I don't mind, Pops I mind. The ClouporT8 counted 75 hits and now the e-juice level is just above the wicking ports by a hair and still working great with full open air intake ports.
I will add post after I've used this set up for awhile.
Curious what other think!

Destroying Atlantis Coils, What Am I Doing Wrong?

To keep it short, my coils are lasting a day on average. I vape a 12mg store bought Skittles flavor and occasionally mix it with 18mg Menthol juice between 25-30 watts. The coils taste burnt and get clogged with some black crud. I'm priming the coils with juice, doing the dry hits that's recommended, essentially everything by the book but I can't get any decent lifespan out of these coils. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Once In A While, The Perfect Vape

So, like everyone else, I have my preferred juice (extremely complex DIY with all NET flavors) and my preferred all day driver (Subtank Nano and an Ego One 1100 mah battery). It's performed GREAT. I use prebuilt OCC coils and I rebuild those coils, too. Most of the time, they work just like they do with any other rig... they hiss (like all atomizers) and pop and crackle... part of the nature of sub ohm vaping (I use the 0.5 ohm heads, btw).

Once in a while, the stars align and the vaping gods smile down, and NO popping. I have to actually fire the device for a while to make sure it works. The telltale hiss is there, just no popping. It's happened with prebuilt coils and coils that I've rebuilt. Not sure what the deal is, but the vape is SOOOOO much better.... flavor seems improved too, but it might be mental.

Whatever the case, thank you, vaping gods, stars, fates, or whatever. That occasional perfect coil is nice.

Vamo Vaping Question?

I have been vaping for 1 year and 3 months now, I have been using an ego twist VV and I usually vape the same liquid all the time, I vape it in an evod with 1.8 ohm resistance and I vape at around 3.7 to 3.8 Volts.

Question, I just bought and received a Vamo 5 today and got two original Panasonic 18650 batteries, everything is fine. My evod works great on the Vamo and I use it at 3.7 volts just like I did on the ego twist. My question is this, what is the difference between vaping using voltage or vaping using wattage and which should I do and why in reference to my Vamo 5?

Also if I use voltage setting does it auto adjust the wattage or if I use wattage setting does it auto adjust the voltage, also what is the advantages and disadvantages of both in the Vamo 5?

Thanks!

Why Do Cotton Based Coils Hate Me?

I can only get about a 1-2 day life span out of coils that are organic cotton based. After 1-2 days, they start seeping a dark colored liquid into my tank and ruining the juice. This has happened in my Atlantis tank running Melo coils vaping at 32 watts and my Herakles tank running 55 watts. Keep in mind I vape about 7-10ml a day. Juices are 70VG/30PG or 80VG/20PG all at 3mg nic.

On the flip side, if I vape old school Atlantis coils at 32 watts on the same juices, I get a full week before this happens.

Any ideas on how to make cotton coils last longer?! For this reason, I can't wait to get my Lemo 2 in. I'll be able to rewick daily and not worry about cost.

The way things are going, I am losing so much money on coils it's nuts. See picture to see whats happening.

Oh yeah, this is happening on all kinds of juices I vape. Mt Baker Vapor, Vista Vapors, 4 Pillars, The Milk Man. Some are budget juices - others are premium. No matter what juice I use, it happens.

The BIGGEST killer is Zeus Juice with 80%PG, 20%VG. This juice kills a coil in one tank full. I'm guessing the sweeteners in that juice do it.

It's frustrating because I LOVE my Herakles tank running at 55W but if I have to replace the coil every 1-2 days, that's SO expensive.

What Coils And Battery To Use??

I bought a Kanger Subtank and Atlantis V2, but sold them because they just weren't wicking my 100% VG liquid (Velvet Cloud & Gypsy eJuice) well at all. I tried using the atlantis with the .3 ohm coil installed at 70-80W, which was the stated operating range, and found it to be EXTREMELY hot. So hot that the tank quickly heated up to the point of almost burning my lips. The Kanger just burned the wick up at 20W+ with the .5 ohm coil, despite letting it sit filled for a few minutes and priming.

I am very interested in picking up a Royal Hunter, although I've no idea what pre-made coils (i dont want to make my own coils, just dont have the knowledge or time to learn how) and battery to get. VaporDNA sells UD pre-made coils in various resistances, but figuring out what resistance to use, and thus what wattage battery to get is where I am stuck. Not sure if it'd be better to run at lower ohms / higher wattages, or higher ohms / lower wattages. I'm not sure if it's possible to get massive clouds, but a cooler vape at the same time, but that's my aim.

Question About Higher Ohms

Hello.
So I think i kind like a cooler vape been getting some heavy lung feeling lately been vaping a 1.2 ohm single coil 28 g kanthal
cotton wick on kayfun clone v4 Tobecco, i would like to try like maybe 1.8 or a 2.0 ohm coil or is the kayfun v4 really better for
lower ohm coils I keep reading where the kayfuns sweet spot is like 1.2 - 1.5 i did lower my wattage from 14 to 12 but i like to seem some clouds more of a flavor chaser than a cloud person though
so i am just wondering if anyone has tried a kayfun around 2.0 ohms and what the vape was like
thank you
