Tried Sub-ohming And Maybe It's Not For Me. Interested In Your Thoughts.

My main go-to setups these days are Nautilus tanks (both sizes) with 1.8ohm BVC's on mini boxes like Eleaf iStick and Heatvape Defender, but since I got the Defender and it can go down to 0.5ohm with it's 25 watts I decided to give it a go.

So I recently purchased a 22mm Peakomizer 2 Mega tank with Aspire Atlantis 0.5ohm coil and just recently tried it out around 25 watts with my favorite 70/30 vanilla flavor juice.

Now maybe this is partly to do with the tank I bought but even on the tightest airflow setting I feel like it's just too much. It seems to kind of force me to do deep straight-to-lung hits and I'm just not into the experience. I like mouth-to-lung hits focused on flavor more than anything else and I don't typically inhale too deep, for more of a smooth creamy vape. But this experience was more like harsher throaty big airy inhale and I didn't dig it.

After literally just 30 minutes of checking it out I went right back to my Nautty's with 1.8 ohm BVC's between 7.5 to 10 watts and that's a happy place for me, so I'm probably going to sell the barely touched Peakomizer 2 tank and brand new Atlantis .5 coils (looking forward to getting access to Classifieds section here soon).

But still I'm interested in other vaper's thoughts on this. I'm curious to know if sub-ohming is mainly geared toward heavy lung hits and the airy experience I had or if there are ways to do it / certain gear to use so that it's a similar experience to what I'm used to.

As always, I'm just really curious to read the opinions and experiences of others. It helps me learn something new every day!

Aspire Atlantis Help, Is My Technique Wrong?

Hey guys,

I originally posted this in the hardware specific section but haven't gotten any love so here goes...

I have been off real cigs for a few months now which I'm super happy about, no desire to go back. I kicked the habit with the aspire K1 Ego tanks and since upgraded to Nautilus mini which I enjoy, I'm primarily mouth to lung hitter. In between the two tanks I was sold an Atlantis by a local B&M, the guy said most buy a Nautilus mini then upgrade to Atlantis anyway so he said it would save money. I couldn't really get into it taking lung hits and still really don't enjoy it but am wondering if my technique is off?

I tried 12mg juice in there and it was really rough, I've since dropped my nicotine to 6mg across the board, and tried that in the Atlantis, it gives a harsh mouth and throat feel if I try to lung hit, I also get the same experience if I use 0mg juice. I've tried MtL hits and it doesn't really produce any vapor. Attempting lung hits I've tried all wattages from 15-30W with same results, also I keep the airflow all the way open. I try and inhale deep and quick thinking more airflow might 'dilute' the vapor and make it feel less harsh. Also this is Atlantis1, and I've only tried max or 100%VG juice.

What technique/settings do you guys use and what should it really feel like doing lung hits on this tank? When he sold me the tank I used it once in the shop and it felt very very smooth on the inhale and smooth on the exhale as well as very dense and tasty and pleasant, for the life of me I can't replicate it. Alternatively, is there a tank or RBA/RTA/RDA I can try for MtL hits that will produce that really dense vapor feel?

TIA for your help, I know it probably sounds like a newbie question lol 'how do I use my tank' but I am stuck!

Defective Aspire Atlantis???

I just got my Aspire Atlantis in, and to be honest I'm not at all satisfied, and I can't help but wonder.... Did I get a defective unit?

I bought it and the Kanger Aerotank Turbo quad coil tank. My resistance on the Kanger is registering at 0.9ohm and I'm sending about 23watts to it. The amount of vapor is excellent, flavor is good, and it's not an overly warm vape at all.

So then I slap on my Atlantis. The 0.5ohm is registering at 0.6 (big whoop...lol) and I'm sending 28 watts to it. First, the hit is BEYOND airy. I'm on the lowest airflow setting and there's no pull required at all. I believe it isn't sealed well somewhere along the airflow adjustment, because when I blow a bit of vapor back into it as a test, it comes out of the airflow hole (obviously) but it also flows out of other areas around the airflow ring. This doesn't happen with my Aerotank Mega, Aerotank Turbo, or my Nautilus...

Furthermore, the hit itself is just BAD. The flavor is off, the vapor is WAY too warm to be enjoyable, and where as I exhale nice sized clouds using the Aerotank Turbo, I exhale pathetic small clouds that aren't even thick when I use the Atlantis. Considering its a lower ohm with more watts going to it, how is that even possible??

So, no resistance at all on the airflow, even on its smallest setting, and obviously I have to be getting air from some areas around the airflow ring. The vape itself tastes bad (not burning cotton bad, just a bad flavor), and it's VERY warm. If I try and pull on this the way I do with the Turbo (only 0.3 ohms higher), I exhale a measly small thin cloud AND I often get choked when doing so.

So I'm just curious.... Is this the way this tank hits?? I can't believe how many praise it if so, I see no appeal. So I can't help but think I must have gotten a defective tank. I've tried lowering the watts down to about 22watts just to see, and even though the vapor wasn't AS hot, it was still uncomfortably warm and did not do my liquid's flavor any justice.

Any thoughts? I really would like to hear if this is how these new sub ohm clearos are going to hit, because if so I have absolutely no interest in making the switch.

Thanks in advance,
Finch

My Daily Juice Consumption Is Becoming Outrageous!

So....been vaping for 6 years.

For the last couple years I was using a Reo with an RBA at .5 ohms and was going through about 12-15ml a day. A friend of mine let me try his sub ohm tank a few weeks ago and I was hooked! The flavor was better than my Reo/RBA setup and the vapor was OMG.

Anyways, I've since bought a couple of sub ohm tanks with an IPV2 Mini, then graduated to a Goliath RTA with an SX Mini M Class. Using the Goliath with a .44 ohm dual coil at 30 watts on the SXM and I'm going through anywhere from 25-35ml a day! This just seem excessive....

Can anyone recommend an RTA that would use less juice but still give me a lot of airflow and flavor? I'm not all about the vapor, although I do enjoy it.

I'm guessing that if you want lots of airflow (I'm a direct lung inhale kinda guy) and a warm, full vape you pretty much have to vape at higher wattages/lower ohms and therefore use excessive amounts of juice...just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and has successfully cut down their juice consumption.

FYI, I DIY my juice so cost is not really an issue...I'm a bit concerned that using this much juice every day just can't be good for you.

Lung Hits At 6mg-12mg Or Mouth To Lung At 30mg - Why Such Big Diff. ?

Hey all,

I've always vaped a high nic concentration. Probably since I started in somewhat of the early days 6 years ago at least and the equipment sucked so the high nic levels kinda offset the equipment. Vape 30mg.

I recently got an atty with a big airhole so I was able to go sub ohm at like
.5ohm at 20-30 watts at my normal 30mg+ nic. Holy **** - it kicked my ***!!! I had to drank a gallon of water after 1 in a half hits.

Do any of you guys notice such a big difference in nicotine amounts when switching vaping styles. When I mouth to lung I only take in maybe a quarter of the actual vapor that's produced- but I use like 30mg+ of nic. But I really like the throat hit the high nic amounts provide.

What are your experiences ? Am I crazy with having to use 30mg+ for my normal mouth to lung vaping style.

There Is Nothing Wrong With Your Television. Do Not Attempt To Adjust The Picture.

Imagine your self filling an RTA with fresh juice, only to have the worst vape you can endure as you cough up a lung. No its not a dry hit. Do you blame the juice or a clogged up coil? In this episode, I will take a short journey and explore to a better vape.

After a week of chain vaping, over 50ml of juice, a mix of 3mg and 6mg Nic, the rayon wick has finally given up and no longer produced a clean vape. After visual inspection, the coil and the wick has indeed had a significant build up from juice. To the point that I could no longer see wick material between a spaced coil.

After discarding old wicking material and cleaning the coil, i wicked an RTA with fresh Rayon and filled it with juice. My favorite tobacco juice has come a live, i can now take long and deep direct lung hits with enjoyment. My taste buds are intoxicated, as my lungs fill up with smooth and silky vapor with every inhale.

Keep an eye on your coil by visually inspecting it on daily basis. Trust your body and your taste buds when a juice no longer tastes as it should. Re-wicking your RTA/RDA on regular basis or every few days, will help you eliminate many concerns and issues that you might be having with juice flavor or vaping experience.

It only takes ten minutes to rewick, and in return you will continue to enjoy many hours and days of pleasurable vaping experience.

Good Night.

Subtank @ 13 W .9 Ω - What's Your Setup?

I am running my Kanger Subtank mini rba deck on .9 ohm (spaced 4 wrap 28awg IIRC) at 13 watts and it is cloudy and flavorful. The OCCs were fine but I prefer the rba I think (even though I'm still a bit of a build novice). Many others seem to run it at 25+ watts and lower resistance. I had it at .5 Ω and ~19 watts was good, had dry hits above 23 watts. Now have dry hits above 15 watts at .9 Ω. I'm still playing around, but this current build/wattage is working awesome.

Other important factors:
Tobacco and vanilla DIY juice 4mg 50/50 PG/VG Organic cotton, standard wick Only had Subtank for 3 weeks Coming from BCC clearos Been vaping for 6 years Used to be mouth-to-lung, doing a lot of direct lung but still switching back sometimes What's your style with the Subtank? How are you running it? What's your wick-style? Dry hits? Wattage? Ω?

Does Using A Sub-ohm Tank At Low Wattage Damage It Or The Mod?

I just got a Delta II tank as an entree to sub ohming after a disastrous adventure with a MELO. Strangely enough, though, while blowing an occasional cloud at 30 watts is fun, I find I also like running it with the air flow pretty restricted on the tank and at 14-16 watts on the regulated mod and taking mouth hits. Really nice flavor and "just right" (to me) vapor production.

Is running a sub-ohm coil at low wattage potentially causing any damage to my mod (iStick 30w) or my tank?

Non Sub Ohm Tank Recomendations

Looking for a new non sub ohm tank. I have a few sub ohm tanks and just can't get into it. It's just not for me. I enjoy a flavorful, cooler mouth hit rather than huge low flavor lung hits. I am currently vaping my old nautilus mini and still like it but I am starting to get some chest pains. It may be my juice or just me but something about the coil fill material just makes me uneasy. I'd like to get a tank that performs like the natilus mini but has a better more pure coil fill material. Any suggestions or am I looking for a unicorn?

Very Disappointed With Sub Ohm Vaping!

I started vaping ages ago back in 2007 or thereabouts.
The only ecigs available then were either 510 or older type 801 atomizers.
We then bought the chucks and vaped on 6 volts with 5 ohm atomizers for a while. (Custom made Vivi Nova 5 ohm coils)
This "while" lasted for years, and I am a little "out of the loop".
I recently bought an IPV mini 70 watts with a few subohm tanks (Kanger, Artic, Herakles etc, 0.5~1.2 OHMS).
The internet is riddled with videos of guys blowing huge clouds of vapor with these sub ohm systems. This intrigued me.
What they do not tell you, is that it is impossible to take a mouth to lung puff, because these tanks afford too much airflow.
Personally, I feel very uneasy breathing anything directly into my lungs. My older 801 and 510 atomizers sometimes spurted out liquid.
I would like your thoughts on this one?

I find that a mouth puff gives you more taste. It's sort of wasted if it goes directly into the lungs.
Another thing I discovered is that these sub-ohm tanks vape much hotter than my previous e cigs. I cannot get a cool/cold vape no matter what wattage I use.

Thirdly, The kanger sub ohm mini coil crackles loudly, sort of Pops loudly from time to time. This greatly annoys me and adds to my lung inhale paranoia.
I'm a little stuck at the moment, and do not know what ecig/tank/coil system to transition to.

Lower Nicotine When Doing Lung Hits?

So I've been mouth to lung vaping since I started vaping. Started at 24 mg with the Halo Triton and when I upgraded to the iStick and the Nautilus I lowered my nicotine down to 15 mg. It's been fine.......getting enough nicotine so I don't crave analogs, not getting too much nicotine so that I start feeling sick. Throat hit has been fine and not uncomfortable.

Yesterday I started doing lung hits with the iStick and the Nautilus and with the greater amount of vapor I can produce, I stepped the nicotine down to 12 mg since I also started to get a little lightheaded (I suppose with the greater amount of vapor I am also taking in more nicotine, even though nicotine absorption through the lungs is not supposed to be as good as through the mouth and nose). The juice that I am using is also a 70VG/30PG mix as compared to the 50/50 I was vaping before. However this morning I woke up with an irritated throat and the vape (even when switching back to mouth to lung) feels more harsh.

Do I need to step down the nicotine level even more to 6 mg? Is this normal when going from mouth to lung to direct lung hits? I'm not subohming, so I didn't expect that I would need to drop it down that much. I'm afraid that if I drop it down too much, then I'm going to have more cravings and will need to vape constantly.
