Vape Pen Charger Explosion

Just watched a news video... "Vape pen charger explosion"
Vape pen charger explosion causes thousands of dollars worth of damage to California woman's home
The lady was charging a vape pen and the charger "explodes" causing a nearby paint can to shoot up into the ceiling. The fire dept guy says "those lithium ion batteries..." and so on. Now wait just a minute! Technically, it wasn't a "vape charger" and they showed the vape pen looked fine. Pens don't come with a charger, just a USB cord, so it was just a universal USB charger (like for phones, ect) and the pen battery didn't explode. Also, why did she have a paint can sitting next to it? Did she leave the vape pen on (might not matter)? Was the USB cord damaged (short)? Pens use a LiPo battery not Lithium Ion. I know I'm nitpicking, but all people will really "hear" is vape pen explodes... nobody really thinks things out. Could this have happened anyway while charging a phone or something else? Right after watching this, I see an article in the local paper telling people to stop vaping immediately because of the recent events (and they don't mention ANYTHING about the real cause!) Final thought: there was also a water bottle next to where the charger was... maybe she spilled water on the charger? I'm like Peter Falk in the old TV show Columbo... "but what got me thinking was..." Maybe I overthink things, but at least I do think (and ask questions)

Is This Charging Adaptor Compatible With My "smok"

I've been charging my 18650 batteries on a Nitecore charger but having to unscrew my Smok XPRO m65 is a real pain so thought I may as well make use of the USB port and charge the battery while it's still in the mod.
But I've been hearing a few horror stories of other mods such as the clouper, apparently its not safe to charger using the USB port

I'd really appreciate it if anyone can help inform me if I'd be able to use my phone charging adaptor with my mod.

The input and output specs of my phone charger and mod input are in the attached pics.

Cheers everyone

Charging 21700 Battery At 2000 Mah

Hi
I just got a Xtar VC2s charger for my 21700 batteries (Samsung 40T).
Chose that charger also because it "charges at safe low current".

When it charges 2 batteries, it's at about 1000 mAh for each battery. All good.
But when charging only one battery, it charges it at 2000 mAh. Hmm?

I assume 2000 mAh is still "safe".. But won't that reduce lifespan on the battery?

The charger manual says "when the power supply is insufficient, the charger will reduce the charge current correspondingly".
So maybe I should get a usb power supply with like 1000 mAh output?

I will only be charging one battery at a time, and prefer charging slowly if that gives more safety and lifespan.

But I don't know if charging at 2000 mAh is really an issue..

New Charger Or New Mod?

I have a Vamo in the mail, since I already have 18650s and a beast of a charger from when I was into radio control. The wife just informed me we're going on vacation for a week, woohoo. My charger is a but bulky and requires a separate power supply.

So, now I'm stuck between buying a new charger that I only see myself using when we go away, or a cheap box mod with battery (like an mvp 2) that I would probably get more use out of, but it's a little more money than the charger would be.

The Possibility Of An Ego Type Battery Charger Mod

Just curious that if I could build a device that would allow me to connect an eGo or Vision Spinner 2 type battery to a charger like a Nitecore Intellicharger i4 that it would work safely and efficiently in place of the usual USB charger? I have an idea as to how to make the connection but I wanted to get some feedback on the idea before I actually proceed to build it. I admit that I am no expert when it comes to Li-ion batteries but my goal is to be able to charge the "stick" type batteries that I own in a faster and safer manner than the seemingly low tech USB chargers. Thanks for any input offered.

Question About Charging My Mod

So I have a SMOK M80 XPRO PLUS that I got a few days ago. Just wondering is it safe to use a phone charger to plug it into the USB port on the bottom?

My uncle, who I stay with, watched some news article about someone's battery blowing up in their apartment and just wants to make sure I am charging this thing safely. I have been using my phone charger up to this point, with no issues.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Avoiding Battery Damage In Charger (springs)

My charger has those eeh springy slides to keep batteries tightly set.
Couldn't find a respectable charger without them.

How do you avoid damaging the battery wrap when inserting/removing in a charger?

Inserting a battery is easier as you can preload the slide with a finger.
But when removing a battery the spring slide eats into the battery wrap on the way up.
Would be nice to avoid any wrap damage.

Maybe put a rubber band / twine / other (non-conductive) underneath so it can be pulled and open the spring slide after charging?
Like a slingshot
Other ideas?

E Cig Battery Question?

I have an orbit cannon vape pen. I believe it's 510 style.

I bought it 5 months ago. I just got around to using it. You press the button 5 times, and it turns on, press it 5 more times and it shuts off. The light also indicates the battery voltage. It turns white when fully charged, and then blue, and then red when it's almost dead. There is also a light on the charger that is red while it's charging and then it's supposed to turn green when it's done charging.

Well, the e cig battery light stays white for a short while, and then turns blue. It used to stay white longer. It's like after a short bit of usage, it goes blue. The red light on the charger also never turns green no matter how long it stays plugged in.

The e cig stayed in the box, and the battery was depleted. I picked it up a few days ago and put it on the charger to start using it and noticed this.

Does it sound like the battery is messed up? Last night I charged it 3 hours and the red light on the charger never turned green so I unplugged it. The light on the battery was white. Today I went to use it, and the light was blue - I never used it and the e cig itself was turned off.

Has Mooch Blessed Any 3.7v 18650's?

I am interested in setting up an Arduino charger for my vape batteries. But the charger I want to use, an Adafruit bq24074 solar charger, does not support nominal 3.6V batteries. And basically all the Mooch approved batteries are nominal 3.6V. So, which 3.7V batteries are considered fairly robust for high current, vaping purposes?

Nitecore Charging..

I just got a nitecore i2 charger always just use the charger on my mod but it's starting to get a tad wiggle to it so figured I'd buy decent charger just wondering how long to charge and is it supposed to get a little warm?

Battery Charging

my vaporizer has a battery of 2800 to
was charging on a 2a 5v charger
carried about 3 full charges.
so the manufacturer recommends a 1 to 5 v charger
tripled charging time instead of decreasing.
do I continue with 2a instead of 1 a?
can give problem ???
thanks
