Are Cloud Chasers Posers?

Options are good. There are so many options out there today for somebody looking for different sorts of vaping hardware. Some people might be happy with a little 808 kit and other people might be happy with a $500 custom mod. As long as whatever each individual is using is working for them, then great! I wouldn't judge any fellow vaper based on their hardware, but I have to admit that I remain suspicious of cloud chasers. I also admit that I don't know that much about it, and maybe that's why I'm making this post.

Besides making big clouds, what benefit does cloud chasing give somebody?

I read that in some cloud chasing competitions, the contestents use 100% VG unflavored. So it's certainly not the taste that these people are after.

So, is it all just about blowing big clouds and showing off? Basically being a poser?

Cloud Chasers...

Hi there!

Ive noticed a bit of a backlash against chasing clouds from a few posters. I wonder why that is? While i do prefer a more powerful and flavorful vape alongside relatively robust clouds, im not particularly interested in the cloud chasing hobby. I like my nicotine and i like tasting my juices. Beyond the novelty of blowing huge plumes of vape, i dont see myself as a cloud chaser.

But i dont have anything against them.

For me, vaping is both hobby and necessity to avoid analogs. Im an addict. Im not ashamed of that. But i can appreciate the purely hobbyist approach to vaping. But why, o' leavened and unleavened masses of the forums, is there ANY backlash against cloud chasing?

I mean, is it so bad to spend the equivalent of a mortgage payment on vaping equipment?

Potential Advantage To Cloud Chasing.

I have no quarrel with those that cloud chase or those that do not. I do think cloud chasing should be avoided in a crowed area as I dislike someone blowing a huge cloud in my face same way I disliked someone blowing smoke in my face. Moving on, after no significant cloud chasing and no new gear for almost a year I decided it was time for a toy. Grabbed a IPv4 and a little boy rda. Once I adjusted my coil build technique to accommodate so much extra power gotta say I'm really enjoying it. So the point of my rambling, besides the fact I can, is I have always hated 0nic liquid. Seemed so depressing and missing my TH which is important. But with the right build a 0nic liquid has just enough TH to make me think it's possible to go to 0. Not saying I want to go to zero but it was never an options before due to it being unsatisfying. So to anyone who does want to give up nicotine you may want to consider a setup that chucks out more vapor.

Rude And Obnoxious Cloud Chasers In Public Places

Just a quick heads up. I took my wife and son out to eat at Longhorn Steakhouse to celebrate Mothers Day today. We had a wonderful meal and some good laughs. We were there for about an hour and 20 minutes. During that time, there were no rude or obnoxious hipsters blowing clouds on anyone in the restaurant.

We left and went to Brusters for dessert. We sat outside at the tables and had Ice Cream. Only Ice Cream...no 2nd hand vapor from some rude, selfish idiots blowing clouds and ruining vaping for everybody. I looked everywhere....they were obviously hiding or taking a break from disturbing little old ladies or making kids cry. But, I know they were there....somewhere.

We got home and I packed a bag to head out of town for a few days of building destroying. I hit the road for a 4.5 hour road trip. I stopped at a Home Depot for a couple things I needed for this job. No Cloud Chasers stinking up the place. I thought to myself "how do they stay a step ahead of me?".

Stopped at a gas station...nothing.

I actually did stop at a Walmart. Walmart is apparently a target rich environment for catching the worst of the worst who blast Serial Killa in yo face. I knew this was going to be it. My heart was racing, I tell ya!
And then it happened...

I was hit from behind by a lady in a little electric shopping hotrod. She apologized profusely....I accepted.

Yet, no Cloud Chasers ruining my shopping experience.

So, as of the moment I type this, it seems like all of our fellow vapers are actually being courteous, respectable and they're using common sense. At least the ones in my path, anyway.

Thank you and keep up the good work!

Cloud Chasing Coil Resistance

So I was just wondering what resistances (and I suppose coils) people use for their cloud chasing builds.
Is the lower resistance or surface area of the coils more important?

My current go-to setup is a dual micro coil at around 0.18 - 0.20 ohms with 24 guage (I think 4 wraps).

Subohming Vs Low Wattage, Got Me Thinking. What Would You Reccomend To A Newbie?

I remember when I started vaping 3 years ago, the transition was hard and I had many relapses. I started with stick style batteries which were far and different than smoking a cigarette. It was like sucking through a straw for 7+ seconds, with little vapor and throat hit/satisfaction at the end. It worked for a while then I relapsed back to cigarettes. I tried Ego-Batteries with 1.0-1.5ohm cartos/tanks, it came close but so many dry hits, and it still wasnt much like a cigarette so I relapsed again, then towards the end of last year, I picked up a vaporshark and started vaping <1.0ohm coils in tanks/RDA's and it got me hooked, it was very much like smoking a cigarette. 2-4second drags, throat hit, and nicotine delivery.

which comes to my second question, I know there is this whole thing of 'cloud chasers' and 'tootle puffers', but what kept you on vaping and didnt make you relapse? For the cloud chasers, was it the visual aspect? The hobby of vaping, the want to get more and bigger visuals out of clouds, or more throat hit and similarity to smoking with clouds just as a side effect? And for the tootle puffers, did you just get used to taking longer drags compared to smoking, have you tried subohming at high wattage and just found longer less direct throathit was more satisfying to you when compared to smoking?

it makes me wonder how people come to their desired vaping setups, if they came by them by trying to find something similar to smoking, or just fell into something completely new that they enjoy even more.

when I think of how I ended up at subohming on mechs, from starting on egos/30-40w devices. I believe it has to do with me chasing that way i used to smoke, 2-4second drags on newports. For those of you that subohm or low watt vape, what type of cigarettes did you use to smoke before you switched? this could be helpful information for people reccomending setups to those who want to make the switch to vaping.

Cloud Competitions

hello everyone, I have been vaping for quite some time now. I think it's time I wanna start doing cloud comps. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or anything. I can blow some pretty big clouds I just wanna know if anyone has any advice to enhance my clouds.

Cloud Chasing With Tanks?

The question is.. Is it possible? Do you believe the sub ohm tanks in today's market could possibly hold a candle to the insane Rdas of the market today such as the dark horse or the doge v2? If not in their stock form then in what way could one modify it too hold a candle in a cloud chasing competition

High Vg - Another Trend?

Hey guys,

I didn't really pay attention for over a year at what's going on in ther world of vape.

After rejoining you guys it seems I read a lot more about people vaping higher VG juices than a year ago.

What's the deal? Cloud chasing?

Funny Dream

I had a weird dream the other night and sheer boredom inspired me to tell you about it.
Baditude joined the super sub ohm cloud chasers. He was looking for advice for a .07 build for his patriot and silver bullet. He went on to say he was fine with the 40 amp imrens and asked everyone to save the lectures. He was entering a national cloud competition and was looking for sponsors. I woke up before he started bashing the provari.

Too much time on ECF, I think

Most Likely A Loaded Question From The Ill-informed

I tend to rant and go off-topic so I'll try to make this question as simple as possible to answer.

I've been using the the Kanger Subtank Mini on the iPV Mini II for about three months now and overall I love it. When I first got my eGo starter kit years ago I didn't care about cloud production and was only concerned about the throat hit being similar to the strength of a Camel filter so the transition would be easier. Now that I've been using this tank I have to admit the clouds have grown on me and it wouldn't be the same if they were taken away. My only problem is that I'm using the 1.2 ohm coil and I'm running through these things, on average, every 4-5 days and I'm starting to wonder (and hope) if there are cheaper options I should look into, but I don't even know where to start. I'm assuming the answer I'm going to get is RBA's and if that's the case can anyone point me in the right direction for a dummy guide? Any and all advice is much appreciated!
